This year as part of The Big Draw the theme is all about play. It’s “all about letting loose, embracing happy accidents, discovery, experimentation and most importantly having fun!”
1. Create your own imaginary birds, animals and monsters from the natural objects you find on a walk round the reserve and adjacent park.
2. Enjoy, explore and create your own explosions of autumn colour to light up your days as the darker, colder weather sets in.
Cost: £2.00 per child (free for children under two and parent-carers but donations are most welcome).
Age range: 0-8

Xplorer in the Nature Reserve

Drop in, get your map and search for the hidden markers. It's Christmas themed so younger children can spot the colourful characters, including Father Christmas, an elf and a robin, while older children can search for letters and challenge themselves to see how many festive related words they can make from them.
This is happening alongside the Winter Solstice day hosted by The Hornbeam.

Control and Remove Invasive Species

The Reserve has several invasive species that, left unchecked, will become increasingly dominant and create a less diverse floral population. We will be removing them before their seeds drop.

Nature Reserve Open Day!

Over the past two years the reserve has been transformed through dedicated volunteer involvement, Council investment and Heritage Lottery Funds. The area has been brought back into use as a wildlife haven and beauty spot right in the heart of Chingford.
Come and celebrate all that's been achieved. Bring a picnic and enjoy some free refreshments. Find out what's living in our ponds, try reed/willow weaving and bird box making. Taste Pimp Hall honey and more. Take a stroll around the reserve and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Parking and toilets will be available.

Please bring lunch/refreshments and a spade or fork if you have one. Sturdy footwear essential.
